Terror~ Chapter 3

She slid down, putting the book over her head. "Who said that?" She managed do whimper.

"Me, lady." A leprechaun with an heavy irish accent was next to her nose. He was about 3 or 4 inches tall, wearing a green coat and tight pants.

She screamed. "Oh my god!" She wailed, as she jumped back, clutching the book and bread. "Who are you?" She was to scared to run, as if her feet were glued to the muddy ground. She could feel the blood dripping down her dirty knee, and it made her feel disgusting.

"I'm Leo the Leprechaun. And don't you go laughing, that is my name. Did you choose your name, Kelsey?"

Kelsey laughed, then stopped and gawked at the leprechaun. "H-How do you know my, know my..."

"Your name?" He had a hearty laugh. "Oh, Kelsey, I'm a leprechaun. I know things like that."

"I-I..." She was about to say, 'I have to go.' But she was too scared too. Kelsey just ran away, hoping that Leo did not follow her.

On the street, it was dark. And raining. Kelsey felt as if someone had pulled a blanket over her head, and ran away. She nearly tripped over a pebble, a very tiny pebble, and she dropped the bread. The bread box's lid opened, and the bread fell out. "Whatever." She sighed, placing the bread back in the box. She didn't even want to know the neighbors didn't get the bread, so she ate it. She couldn't even find her way home, so she huddled under a tree and slept that way.

As Kelsey entered her home, filled with the brightness of mourning, she saw her mom in the corner of the kitchen on the phone. She was wearing her favorite blue fleece robe, and was twisting the cord around her finger. She looked worried.

"Hey mom." Kelsey said, putting the book down on a table. Her mom stared at her, then dropped the phone. As she picked the phone back up and put it on the receiver, she started crying. In a sad, happy, angry kind of way.

"Kelsey. Where. Were. You." She hugged her.

"MOM..." Kelsey sighed. You think her mom wouldn't be worried. She was 13, after all. She backed up, and tripped over something. The book.

"Sweetie! You come home muddy, and leave some filthy book on the WHITE floor?"

"Mom, I swear... I left that on the table!"

"Mm hmm. Sure, Keel." Her mom then yelled, "Ralph! Your daughters home."

"Oh!" They heard, followed by a pounding of footsteps down the stairs.
